In the place where the story began, the story was told once again.
In Daraa, the city where the first sparks of the Syrian revolution were ignited, faces, memories, and voices came together around a story that has never left the hearts of Syrians. That evening, Little Gandhi was more than a film on a screen. It was a window into an entire chapter of Syria’s history, into lives lost, dreams that endured, and stories whose voices still echo in the memory of a nation.
With Ghiyath Matar’s family in attendance, alongside guests and members of the community, the screening became a powerful gathering of remembrance. Words of loss and tribute brought together the stories of Daraya and Daraa, two cities connected by revolution, sacrifice, and a shared longing for freedom. Because some stories do not end when they are told. And some names never fade as long as there are people who continue to remember them.
From Daraa to the world, the story is still being told.

في المكان الذي بدأت منه الحكاية عادت الحكاية لتُروى.
من درعا، حيث انطلقت أولى شرارات الثورة السورية، اجتمعت الوجوه والذكريات والأصوات حول قصةٍ لم تغادر ذاكرة السوريين. غاندي الصغير» لم يكن في ذلك المساء مجرد فيلم يُعرض على شاشة، بل نافذة فُتحت على زمنٍ كامل؛ على وجوهٍ غابت، وأحلامٍ بقيت، وقصصٍ ما زال أصحابها يعيشون في ذاكرة وطن.
وبين حضور عائلة الشهيد غياث مطر، وكلماتٍ حملت وجع الفقد ووفاء الذاكرة، بدا العرض أشبه بلقاءٍ بين حكاية داريا وحكاية درعا بين مدنٍ جمعتها الثورة، ووحّدتها التضحيات. لأن بعض القصص لا تنتهي حين تُروى، وبعض الأسماء لا تغيب حين يبقى من يذكرها.
من درعا إلى كل مكان، ما زالت الحكاية تُروى.
