There is nothing harder than rebuilding a city, except rebuilding the memories of those who lived within it.
At Umayyad Square in Damascus, a lecture titled “Community Awareness Is Not a Luxury, but a Fundamental Condition for Any Real and Sustainable Peace” was delivered by Dr. Shadi Zaza, opening a deeper reflection on a more profound question:
How do we rebuild people before we rebuild buildings?
Within the framework of “Culture of Change,” the session emphasized a central idea: societies emerging from conflict do not only need reconstruction, but also a unifying awareness that enables them to rise again.
Because true change does not begin from the outside.
It begins in the way we see ourselves… and in how we allow others to rise with us.

ليس أصعب من أن تنهض مدينة… إلا أن تنهض ذاكرة من عاشوا فيها.
في قلب ساحة الأمويين – دمشق، جاءت محاضرة بعنوان: “الوعي المجتمعي ليس رفاهية بل شرط أساسي لأي سلام حقيقي ومستدام”، قدّمها الدكتور شادي ظاظا، لتفتح مساحة مختلفة للتفكير في سؤال أعمق:
كيف نعيد بناء الإنسان قبل العمران؟
في إطار ثقافة التغيير، حملت المحاضرة فكرة محورية: أن المجتمعات التي خرجت من الحرب لا تحتاج فقط إلى إعادة إعمار، بل إلى وعيٍ يوحّدها ويمنحها القدرة على النهوض من جديد.
لأن التغيير الحقيقي… لا يبدأ من الخارج.
بل من الطريقة التي نرى بها أنفسنا… ونمنح بها الآخرين فرصة للنجاة معنا.
