The orphan Hamza, a fourteen-year-old boy, fights illness, poverty, and helplessness. He knows no sleep except after struggle and medicine, and every night, the cold strikes before his eyes can close.

A house with no electricity, no windows, no warmth. Its floor is sand, its walls are dust, and a mother, exhausted by sleeplessness and sorrow, fights alone to keep life standing. Hamza has no army, his only army is his mother, who battles for him with patience, tears, and hope. حمزة لا جيش له، جيشه الوحيد أمه، تحارب من أجله بالصبر والدموع والأمل. يحتاج إلى دواء يخفف ألمه، ولعبة تهدئ اضطرابه، ودفء يعيد إليه راحته في الليالي الباردة.
